Art lover, BTS RM, 0.1 million dollars to distribute art books donate
National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art(MMCA) announced on the 14th that RM has donated 0.1 million dollars through the MMCA foundation.
RM, in honor of his birthday, 12th Sep, said he hoped that the culture of reading art books would spread and help youths develop artistic sensibilities.
RM's donations would be used to distribute art books. A total of 4,000 volumes, including the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art exhibition catalogs and Korean authors' catalogs, will be produced and donated to 400 public libraries in South Korea and school libraries. Some will be placed in the Art Bookstore of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.
The director of National Museum of Contemporary Art, Yoon Beom-mo said, "Mr. RM has expressed his intention to support the art field where he has been inspired and rested, and it means that it would be good for teenagers who have difficulty accessing art museums. I was happy and surprised to hear about it.”
BTS' leader RM has shown an extraordinary interest in Korean art and exerted a good influence. He has been told to have considerable knowledge and insight into Korean art.
RM has been visiting art museums, galleries, and art fairs all over the country despite busy schedules. On the 12th of his birthday, he posted a picture of large multimedia installation work 'Starry Beach' at the International Gallery in Sogyeok-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul on Social Network Service (SNS).
The exhibition he went to became a hot topic and fans continued to visit. The art world has been welcoming, hoping that BTS fans at home and abroad will visit the exhibition hall and take interest in Korean art through the 'RM effect'.
BTS also showed off large projects in collaboration with art. Earlier this year, the global contemporary art exhibition 'Connect, BTS' was held in five cities around the world, in which artists who sympathize with BTS' art philosophy participated.
