The drama stopped...K-drama, 'Corona Shock'

Due to the spread of Corona 19, major Korean broadcasters and production companies have stopped filming the drama for some moment.

KBS has decided to temporarily suspend production of major dramas for a week from the 24th Aug. The grand prize will be mini-release "Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol", "I'll kill you If you have an affair", and weekend drama including "Samkwang Villa!" and the daily drama "Secret Man".

Studio Dragon will also suspend all scheduled filming for a week. The decision is expected to adjust the schedule for some of the programming, including KBS2's "I've been there once", tvN's "Flower of Evil," and OCN's "Missing: They Were," which is being produced by Studio Dragon. tvN's "Secret Forest 2" and "Youth Records" have been filmed.

JTBC also decided to stop filming six dramas, including "18 Again" and "The Number of Cases" CJ ENM will also temporarily stop filming scheduled dramas such as tvN dramas "Day and Night" and "Startup" while tvN entertainment show "Seoul Village Guy" will also stop filming. Netflix has also decided to temporarily stop producing Korean content, and filming of "Squid Game" and "Our School Now" that are currently being filmed has been suspended altogether.

The reason why the "corona shock" hit the broadcasting industry is that secondary infections are spreading at the drama production site, where face-to-face contact with many people is inevitable.

Starting with actor Seo Sung-jong, who starred in the KBS drama, the second infection between celebrities such as Kim Won-hae and Heo Dong-won was confirmed, and not only the three, but also a number of actors and officials who contacted their staff were also subject to the Kororo 19 test. "No matter how thorough the quarantine is, there are dozens of actors, managers, stylists, and dozens of other staff, and there is a lot of movement, so there is no choice but to be a chain of corona 19 infections," said a broadcasting official who was at the filming site and underwent corona 19 tests.

Despite the "Corona 19" fandom situation earlier this year, Korean dramas have remained solid. Rather, K-drama received positive news as it met the demand for contents of the "Hip Cock tribe" which spent more time at home due to the spread of Corona 19, and caused box office craze in the U.S., Europe and the Middle East beyond Asia such as China and Vietnam. Another big homework has been thrown on how K-drama, which has turned the crisis into an opportunity, can wisely cope with the Korona shock.

The Korea Communications Commission said it will revamp the broadcasting disaster system to prepare for future social disasters such as infectious diseases, including the Corona19.
