Actor Song Joong-ki chooses a space science fiction movie as his comeback after his divorce

 "When I saw Tae-ho (played by Song Joong-ki), the word 'desperation' came to my mind the most."

Song Joong-ki said at the press conference of the movie 'Space Sweepers(Seungriho)' (director Cho Sung-hee) conducted online on February 2nd.

Song Joong-ki said, "Tae-ho is a person who laid down everything in his life. I thought it was similar to my actual state of mind at that time." 'Space Sweepers(Seungriho)' is Song Joong-ki's choice after his divorce. In the drama, Tae-ho also suffered from loss.

Song Joong-ki said, "I thought Tae-ho was a person who gained courage in life little by little while meeting Seungri's crew. In that sense, I think the crew helped Tae-ho a lot." expressing gratitude to his colleagues, including Kim Tae-ri, Jin Sun-kyu and Yoo Hae-jin.

Song Joong-ki was reunited with director Cho Sung-hee for the first time in eight years since "Wolf Boy." "Wolf Boy" is a film that made Song Joong-ki a star, recording more than 7 million viewers, although it was a romance movie when it was released in 2012. Song Joong-ki is said to have decided to appear without even looking at the scenario due to his trust in director Cho Sung-hee.

Song Joong-ki thought, "It would be fun when I heard from the director that he was preparing for such a movie (Space Sweepers) when filming "Wolf Boy," but after nearly 10 years, I decided to do it when he gave me a scenario. The story was a little different from that time, but it was still fresh." 

He also said, "I came out with dirt on my face during 'Wolf Boy,' but in this movie, I came out with oil stains. The two characters look dirty on the outside, but I liked them because they were pure and clean inside."

'Space Sweepers(Seungriho)' is also drawing attention as it is the first space science fiction film to be shown in a domestic commercial film. 'Space Sweepers(Seungriho)' was considering the release of the theater several times last year, but eventually chose to go to Netflix due to the prolonged Corona 19 incident.

Song Joong-ki said, "It's the first space movie in Korea, so the director must feel a lot of pressure, but I'm excited and excited. It feels like I'm going on a very exciting adventure like 'The Goonies' I saw when I was in middle school." 

He also said "The release date of the 'Space Sweepers(Seungriho)' was later than scheduled. I want to communicate with the audience as soon as possible. I hope we can show our movie soon."

'Space Sweepers(Seungriho)' is a story about crew members of the space junk cleaner Seungri jumping into a dangerous deal in 2092 after discovering Dorothy, a human-type robot known as a weapons of mass destruction. Song Joong-ki, Kim Tae-ri, Jin Sun-kyu, and Yoo Hae-jin will appear and meet viewers from 190 countries around the world through Netflix on the 5th Feb.
